    Default Surah 5 (AL-MAEDA) : Verse 51 to 52

Translations of the Noble Qur'an, Surah 5 (AL-MAEDA)
    005.051
O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
    005.052
Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they secretly harboured in their hearts.

I respect the ayeth but my question is should we take this ayeth as a starting point in terms of interreligious dialogue. I do not think any christian will listen to what you say, if they hear this ayeth first. There are hundreds of ayets regarding showing respect and being tolerant to others that we can start talking about.

Hadrat Anas Radi ALLAH Taala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah Peace And Blessings Be Upon Him has said, “Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Yasin. Allah records anyone who recites Yasin as having recited the Qur’an ten times.”
